Atelier of Giovanni Battista Foggini  (1652-1725)
1685, Marble

Giovani Battista Foggini, the director of the Opificio delle Pietre Dure (Gemstone Workshop) of Florence, was a key figure in the baroque development of seventeenth-century sculpture. His formula of composed elegance, underscored by penetrating expressions, would soon become the benchmark for official portrait art, both in Florence and beyond.
